The “Poynette…Naturally” motto describes the recreational and lifestyle options available in Poynette. The village currently has about 2,500 residents that are proud to call Poynette home.

Around the Poynette area, there are many different recreation opportunities available. The MacKenzie Center is just outside of town and is renowned as one of the most diverse education centers in the state of Wisconsin. The center has 285 acres of property to work with and has many different attractions for visitors. These attractions include multiple trails, logging & sawmill exhibits, the conservation museum, and tons more. One of the bigger attractions is the wildlife exhibit. This exhibit showcases many animals that are native to the region including bison, deer, gray wolves, lynx, and red foxes. More information about the MacKenzie Center can be found on its website.

To the west of Poynette, you’ll find Lake Wisconsin. This 7,197-acre lake offers a very wide variety of fish including Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Walleye, Panfish, Trout, and Catfish. Lake Wisconsin has 15 different boat landings for extremely easy access to the lake from any point on the lake. Heading further west you’ll find Devil’s Lake State Park, one of the staples of Wisconsin. Devil’s Lake State Park is open year-round from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and offers some of the best views in the state. From the top of the bluffs, you’ll get a beautiful view of the entire park, which can provide some great scenery for a picture.
