About Dodgeville, WI

Dodgeville is the county seat of Iowa County, and was a mining town in it's early years. Dodgeville was founded by Henry Dodge, who came here and sought his fortune through lead mining, and incidentally, he later became the first governor of the Wisconsin Territory. In 1849, most of the miners left for the California Gold Rush but the city thrived and became a business and agricultural community. In 1995, the downtown area was declared a National Historic District.

Dodgeville is now famous for being home to the corporate headquarters of Lands’ End. We have lots of parks and campgrounds for you to enjoy the great outdoors! No matter what the season, there is no better place to be than Dodgeville. Dodgeville can boast the presence of three beautiful state parks – Governor Dodge, Tower Hill and Blue Mounds State Park, as well as Blackhawk Lake, another site for camping, hiking & fishing. The Military Ridge Trail (biking, walking, running, and in winter: snowmobiling) runs from Dodgeville to Verona. Dodgeville is home to many annual events, such as Farmer’s Appreciation Day, the Dodgeville Blues Fest, Lands’ End annual clearance sale, Kiwanis Chicken barbecue, Bloomfield Balloon Fest and so much more.
