About Merrill, WI

In the southern half of Lincoln County is the City of Merrill. Merrill has a population of 9,600 according to the 2010 census and is located right along the beautiful Wisconsin River.

Merrill has tons on offer for its residents throughout the year. In the summer, residents enjoy live performances by the city’s band, which is one of the last remaining in the state. Other summer events include Barley-Fest, Pro-Rodeo, ice cream socials, and the Lincoln County Fair. In the fall and winter, there are still tons of events such as the Labor Day Parade, Winterfest, Halloween, and other holiday events.

Around the Merrill area, there are many different opportunities for recreational activities. The Wisconsin River offers great opportunities for boating, fishing, and kayaking. In the river, anglers will find the common variety of fish found in every lake around the state. If you’re lucky, you could even catch the elusive Sturgeon! The avid birdwatcher will be delighted to see many different species of birds including Cranes, Hawks, Bald Eagles, Herons, and much more!
