About Rothschild, WI
Rothschild was formed in 1909 when a group of Wausau businessmen built a pulp and paper mill on the Wisconsin River. Today, the town has a population of almost 5,300.
The village of Rothschild is conveniently located near the beautiful Rib Mountain and the metropolis of Wausau. This allows for easy access to recreation within Rib Mountain State Park and a short commute to work in Wausau. To the south of Rothschild is Mosinee, which offers excellent fishing opportunities on the Mosinee Flowage.
The Wisconsin River runs through downtown Rothschild and offers some spectacular waterfront views. The Rothschild Pavilion was built in 1908 and burnt down in 1910. After this, the building was rebuilt with stone instead of wood and was furnished with beautiful rustic pieces. The pavilion was visited year-round by residents looking to take a dip in the swimming pool during the summer and hockey in the winter. Today, the pavilion can be rented out for events and visitors can schedule a tour to explore the facility.
