Tomahawk’s motto is “Life the way it’s meant to be!”. This small, friendly town of 3700 is located in the Northwoods where three rivers converge. Tomahawk has a unique balance of tourism and industry with an excellent school system and strong sense of civic pride.
Within the Tomahawk area there are so many different things to do! If you’re looking for a place to cool down on a hot day check out one of the three beaches in the area. These beaches are maintained extremely well and offer a great way to relax on the lakefront. For the avid angler, there are tons of places to head out and catch some trophy fish. The area is home to many different species including Panfish, Walleye, Northern Pike, Bass, and Muskie. Attractions in Tomahawk are only limited by how much time there is in a day. The hatchet throwing craze that has been sweeping the nation has found it’s way into Tomahawk at Blades & Boards. This unique experience gives visitors the chance to throw hatchets like they do in the movies. Maybe hatchet throwing isn’t your thing. If that’s the case you can always take your four-legged friend to the Tomahawk Dog Park. The park is open year round from sun up to sun down and runs completely off visitor donations. The park offers a three acre, off leash area for the bigger dogs and half-acre area for the smaller, shy dogs.
Those looking to spend a day shopping downtown will be spoiled by the choices on offer. Within the downtown area there are a handful of specialty food shops, specifically those that specialize in locally sourced and crafted meats and cheeses. The taste of local products like these is enough to keep you coming back for more, and thus should be a must stop. For the crafty one, check out the Diamond Rock Glass Studio. The store offers a variety of stained glass supplies, but also offers classes by appointment and walk-ins, if space is available.
