Located in the heart of Marathon County, Wausau has a population of around 39,000 residents and is the largest city in Marathon County. Wausau came to fruition around 1850, whereas before the town was known as Big Bull Falls.

Wausau has tons of attractions and landmarks that make it a wonderful place to visit for the whole family. Take a trip down to the Wausau River District and experience the shops, the food, and the views. Within the heart of downtown is the Wausau Center Mall that has over 60 shops for visitors to explore. If architecture is up your alley, check out the Andrew Warren Historic District. Named after the owner of a sawmill in the 1800’s, this district features buildings done in a multitude of different styles for all different types of architecture fans. For those who love everything local, check out the farmer’s market located at 400 River Drive, Wausau. The market opens on Wednesday and Saturday at 7 AM and features a variety of locally grown and crafted products.

Throughout the summer, Wausau has a rich variety of events for residents and visitors to enjoy. If music is your thing check out the Concerts on the Square series each Wednesday from June 5 to August 21. When the holidays roll around, be sure to head downtown and see the annual holiday parade.
