Welcome to the Minocqua/Lakeland area located in the middle of Northern Wisconsin’s Lake Country. With over 1500 freshwater lakes and numerous rivers and streams, the area is often referred to as “Nature’s Original Water Park”.
The Lakeland area of Minocqua, Woodruff and Arbor Vitae has become one of the state’s top family vacation destinations because there’s so much to do in such a picturesque setting. Whether you visit during spring, summer, fall or winter, the Lakeland area is the place to be. The whole family will find activities they love while they’re here.
Spring and summer bring craft shows, hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, parades, festivals, camping, theatre, concerts and perfect weather in which to enjoy them. Whether you rent a jet ski, canoe or kayak, hang out on a sandy beach, catch a Min-Aqua Bats show, take an Ojibwe craft-making class or attend a traditional pow-wow, you will find plenty of activities that will create the memories you will cherish for years to come.
Fall and winter are wonderful seasons in the Northwoods. Fall is the perfect time to hike, bike, or drive along some of the area’s scenic routes, taking in the breathtaking beauty of the brilliant colors of turning leaves. Cooler weather brings cozy nights around a campfire swapping stories and toasting marshmallows.
With an average of 65” of snow each year and so many frozen lakes, anyone who loves to cross-country ski, snowmobile, snowshoe or ice fish will love the winter season. Nearby Minocqua Winter Park and Nordic Center offers some of the best cross-country skiing in the nation, along with night skiing, tubing, equipment rentals and instruction. There are also a number of snowmobile clubs in the area. When you’re ready for indoor activities, head to the Northwoods Wildlife Center or the Northwoods Children’s Museum and Discovery Store.
